Christina and James’ Contemporary Art Wedding

This black-tie affair was a impossible to forget. Christina and James’ contemporary art wedding blended the traditional wedding with modern style so effortlessly. We started with hair and makeup at 21c Museum Hotel and ended the night at Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art with a beautiful Catholic ceremony in the middle of the day.

THE CEREMONY

Christina moved everyone with a bold grace as she walked down the aisle solo to meet her forever. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception set the tone for the ceremony with its breathtaking beauty. The vaulted ceiling allowed an echo to surround their closest friends and family while they said “I do” to forever.

Their fur baby Tycho even made an appearance to celebrate his parents!

After the ceremony, the bridal party loaded the party bus for an afternoon on the town. The best part of an afternoon ceremony is the excess time for pictures! Even though Christina and James didn’t hold a first look, they had hours to get photos taken across the city.

We always expect the unexpected in the wedding industry, but we got a sweet surprise! After a photo session in the city, the group had some buffer time to spend – that trusty, Type A timeline coming in handy! – and took a pitstop at their hotel. 21C’s entryway created quite the setup for an impromptu photo shoot, and Husband and Wife Photography took full advantage. The photos didn’t disappoint, and became some of my favorites of the day!

THE RECEPTION

Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art hosted our traditional design elements with a modern twist. All guests in attendance were asked to wear black so that our strategic pops of color would… well, pop! In addition to the museum’s exhibits around the reception space, we added fuchsia florals with complimenting jewel tones to create a consistent modern feel.

From a custom flower arch  to furniture rentals, our guests were welcomed into cocktail hour in style. With champagne in hand, guest found their seats and welcomed the newlyweds into their party.

And a party it was! Helping bring Christina and James wedding vision to life was both a joy and an honor. These two overflow with love and respect for one another, and we can’t wait to watch their marriage unfold. Cheers to the newlyweds!
